Handicap sequence

The number in the box is what the time will be at the next sound signal, not the time elapsed.Once the 5 minute warning is given you may not pass through the start line in the wrong direction ie from the course side to the start side. You must instead go around the ends. You may make practice starts before the your start time but do not dip the line. Go through it as you would in a normal start and return around the ends to the correct side.

Sunday Handicap Race

The race start is staggered with slow boat types starting together at 12.00 and faster boats starting together at 12.03. Refer to the start times
The race will run for approximately 60 minutes. The Officer of the Day will determine a suitable finishing line during the race which will give the lead boat a race of approximately 60 minutes. The siren will sound for the lead boat and all other boats passing the finishing line and the time for each boat to pass the line is recorded.

How to Calculate
Record the time each boat passes the finishing line.
Calculate the 'Elapsed Time' by:
Elapsed Time = finished time - start time (recorded in seconds).
If the boats have completed a different number of laps, then divide the elapsed time by the number of laps.
multiply each time by 1000.
Divide each of these figures by the handicap to get the 'Corrected Time'.
Once this is done for each of the boats, you can assign positions with the first position being the lowest corrected time (lowest number).

Example 1
Boat A has a handicap of 1020, has done the same number of laps as all the other boats and took 1 hour 22 minutes and 33 seconds to cross the finish line.
Convert the elapsed time into seconds: 4953 seconds.
Multiply this by 1000 = 4953000
Divide this by the handicap to obtain the corrected time: 4855.88

Example 2
Boat 2 has a handicap of 1080 and has done the six lap (at least one other competitor has done a different number of laps. The boat passed the finish line in 55 minutes and 48 seconds.
Convert the elapsed time into seconds: 3348 seconds
Divide by the number of laps completed which gives the average elapsed time per lap: 558
Multiply this by 1000: 558000
Divide this by the handicap to obtain the corrected time. 516.66
